Your first visit at Motionis Medicine is a physician-led evaluation. Dr. Tanuj Palvia, MD reviews your history and any prior imaging, examines you, and explains what is most likely causing your pain and which non-surgical options may make sense. Treatment is discussed once the likely source of pain is clear.

Before your visit

You can schedule by phone at (646) 779-0995 or online. New patients are welcome, and in most cases no referral is required. Contact the office to confirm based on your insurance plan.

It helps to bring:

  • Prior imaging reports, such as MRI, CT or X-ray (and the images, if you have them)
  • A list of your current medications and any allergies
  • Records of earlier treatments, including physical therapy, injections or surgery
  • Your insurance card and a photo ID, if you plan to use insurance

Please tell the office if you take blood thinners, because this can matter if an injection is considered later.

During the evaluation

Evaluation focuses on finding the main pain generator rather than only treating symptoms. A physician-led assessment may include:

  • A detailed history of your pain: when it started, what makes it better or worse, and what you have already tried
  • A physical examination and functional assessment of movement and stability
  • Review of prior imaging, when available
  • Image-guided diagnostic injections, only when appropriate, to confirm a pain source

Imaging findings alone do not always explain symptoms, so your history and examination are considered together with your scans.

After the evaluation: your plan

Dr. Palvia explains his findings in plain language and discusses options. Non-surgical care is explored thoroughly, and many plans start with conservative steps. Depending on your diagnosis, the plan may include further testing, coordinated rehabilitation, image-guided injections, or regenerative (orthobiologic) options when appropriate.

If a procedure is recommended, it is discussed with you first, including what to expect and how to prepare. You decide whether and when to go ahead.
